As of October 15, 2026, June 30 is the latest calendar-quarter end whose normal 2026 Form 13F filing deadline has passed. The [SEC's deadline table](https://www.sec.gov/rules-regulations/staff-guidance/frequently-asked-questions-about-form-13f) gives August 14 for the June quarter and November 16 for the September quarter. An August filing describing June holdings is therefore not a Q3 portfolio snapshot merely because it became public during Q3.

That distinction is useful for institutional research. The holdings date, filing date and date a researcher observed a report answer different questions. This review explains those fields using two original reports, without claiming that every manager has filed or that no September-quarter report could appear before its deadline.

## Two August filings with June reporting dates

[Berkshire Hathaway's original 13F-HR](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1067983/0001193125-26-352200.txt) was filed August 14, 2026, under accession 0001193125-26-352200. Its cover page reports the quarter ended June 30, 2026. It is marked as an original report, not an amendment.

[Bridgewater Associates' original 13F-HR](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1350694/0001350694-26-000003.txt) was also filed August 14, under accession 0001350694-26-000003. Its reporting quarter is likewise June 30, and its amendment flag is false.

These examples are evidence about the periods stated in those particular filings. They are not a complete manager sample, a portfolio ranking or a reconstruction of either firm's present investments. A later download of the same report changes the research observation date; it does not move the reported holdings into a later quarter.

## Three dates to preserve

The two sampled filings arrived 45 calendar days after June 30. On October 15, the June 30 observation point is 107 calendar days in the past. Those are date calculations, not estimates of how much a portfolio has changed.

A useful research record keeps:

- The quarter-end date stated on the cover page.

- The official filing date and exact accession.

- The date the researcher captured or reviewed the document.

- The report type and amendment flag.

- The public confidential-omission field and any separately supported limitations.

Calling a report current solely because it was captured today would conceal its original measurement date. Conversely, its age does not prove that the manager has traded any particular position. This article makes no claim about trades after June 30.

## What the November deadline establishes

The SEC table gives Monday, November 16, 2026 as the September-quarter deadline. October 15 precedes that date. A research product should therefore verify the period of every displayed filing instead of silently relabelling June data as September holdings.

The deadline does not certify the completeness of an existing dataset. It also does not make an early report impossible. The appropriate test is the individual report's period and filing history. This review has not searched every Q3 report or amendment and does not assert that the entire quarter is unavailable.

## A holdings disclosure has a defined scope

The SEC FAQ describes the Official List of Section 13(f) Securities. It primarily includes US exchange-traded stocks, closed-end fund shares and ETFs, with certain other instruments also included. Securities outside the list should not be reported on Form 13F. The FAQ also says short positions are excluded and should not be netted against reported long positions.

That scope prevents treating a 13F table as a complete balance sheet or complete net-exposure statement. It also cannot, without separate evidence, establish an institution's cash available for a private-fund commitment or its willingness to allocate to a new manager.

Confidential treatment is another boundary. The SEC FAQ explains that a public report must indicate when information requested for confidential treatment has been omitted and filed separately. Both original example reports have a false confidential-omission flag. That captured field is retained; it is not presented as a guarantee that the reports cover every asset or economic exposure.

The examples come from exact SEC submissions and cover-page XMLs captured on October 15. The deadline and reporting-scope explanations come from the SEC FAQ. Date arithmetic is reproducible: June 30 to August 14 is 45 days, and June 30 to October 15 is 107 days.

For a broader discussion of evidence provenance, see the [Altss OSINT methodology](https://altss.com/blog/osint-methodology-for-lp-intelligence). For these holdings, the direct answer remains period-specific: the two August reports describe June 30, and the September-quarter deadline is still ahead of the observation date. Present-day ownership, portfolio changes and private-market mandates require their own evidence.

Public records carry source-specific dates where available. No population-wide measured refresh cadence or universal verification deadline is established here. Page modified, source captured, fact observed, entity verified and aggregate measured describe different events. Check the date attached to the relevant claim; a missing verification date means unknown. Stored source history does not establish a customer-facing historical-analysis interface.
