NY State Common Retirement Fund: July 2026 commitments
July 2026 NYCRF records distinguish fund commitments, co-investments, follow-ons and GP stakes, with dollar and euro amounts counted separately.

Coverage period: 2026-07-01 through 2026-07-31. Publication date: October 15, 2026.
New York State Common Retirement Fund's July 2026 transaction report records seven private-market investment entries across its Private Equity, Real Estate and Opportunistic/Absolute Return Strategies sections. Six dollar-denominated amounts add to $625 million; a separate co-investment is reported at €40 million. Keeping those currencies separate is necessary before discussing the scale of the disclosed activity.
This review covers that one institution's July monthly report, checked on October 15. It is a historical-period review published at the current date, not a claim about every public pension or an estimate of private-market fundraising. The seven entries include follow-on commitments, a co-investment and a vehicle holding a general-partner stake, so they should not all be described as new flagship-fund commitments.
Private equity: a co-investment and a new relationship
The report lists €40 million for MCP Co-Investment Fund 2026 I C.V., managed by Main Capital Management, with a July 7 closing. The vehicle invests alongside Main Capital IX Feeder (A) C.V. The stated geographic focus is Western Europe and the Nordic region.
Awani Capital Fund has a $75 million entry, closed July 9. The report identifies Awani as a new relationship and describes a North American business-services and industrial-company strategy.
For a manager-monitoring record, retain the MCP co-investment vehicle's identity alongside its linked feeder. The report's reference to a new relationship attaches to Main Capital IX Feeder; it should not be casually rewritten as proof that every related vehicle is a newly established manager relationship. Awani's own relationship description is explicit.
Basis: two real-estate vehicles with different roles
BIG Real Estate Fund III has a $150 million entry for diversified US real-estate debt strategies. BIG Venture III has a separate $50 million entry for additional capital alongside Fund III transactions focused on affordable housing. Both investments closed July 1, and Basis Investment Group is described as an existing relationship.
Those reported entries total $200 million. Their different vehicle roles remain useful even when presenting that combined amount: a main fund and additional capital alongside its transactions answer different questions about how exposure is structured. The report does not give the value of every underlying property transaction, and this review does not substitute those commitments for property values.
Follow-ons and a general-partner stake
The report places two General Catalyst investments in Opportunistic/Absolute Return Strategies: $60 million for General Catalyst Group XIII and $40 million for GC Creation Fund III. Both are expressly additional commitments, closed July 24, with General Catalyst an existing relationship.
Together these additions are $100 million. Preserving the additional-commitment label prevents a reader from mistaking them for the first allocation to the manager. Preserving the source's portfolio classification also avoids silently moving venture-strategy investments into its Private Equity section.
Excelsior Beyond CIV has a $250 million entry, closed July 17. The report describes a fund of one holding a minority stake in a general partner and identifies Arctos Partners as a new relationship. That is a different economic exposure from a conventional commitment to a manager's underlying flagship fund. The report does not identify the general partner in that description; no identity is inferred here.
What the total measures
The $625 million calculation is $75 million + $150 million + $50 million + $60 million + $40 million + $250 million. It counts each of those six reported dollar entries once. The €40 million MCP entry remains separate; no currency conversion is applied.
The public-equity section separately reports $200 million funded to Northern Trust's emerging-markets index account on July 31. It is excluded from the private-market calculation. Reported investment-closing dates also do not, by themselves, measure every capital call paid during July.
The official reporting index explains that monthly disclosures cover investments, transactions and manager activity. For broader process context, the Altss pension-fund fundraising guide is separate from this dated transaction review.
The useful monitoring record is the legal vehicle, original portfolio category, reported amount and currency, relationship description, additional-commitment flag and closing date. Those fields preserve the distinction between an observed investment and an unsupported claim about fresh allocator demand.

Public records carry source-specific dates where available. No population-wide measured refresh cadence or universal verification deadline is established here. Page modified, source captured, fact observed, entity verified and aggregate measured describe different events. Check the date attached to the relevant claim; a missing verification date means unknown. Stored source history does not establish a customer-facing historical-analysis interface.
