Q3 2026 buyout fundraising: three final closes, with vehicle boundaries
Three Q3 buyout final-close announcements compared with original sources, separating third-party LP commitments, GP capital and expected co-investment.

Coverage period: July 1–September 30, 2026. Publication date: October 15, 2026. Selected announcement records; this is not a market census.
Citation Capital, Warren Equity Partners and Golden Gate Capital announced final closes during July 2026. Their headline numbers measure different combinations of capital. Citation separates outside LP commitments from GP and affiliate capital; Warren reports two named partnerships together; Golden Gate separates committed fund capital from expected co-investments.
This selected register covers announcements dated July 1 through September 30, 2026, checked on October 15. All three included announcements fall in July. It is a source-backed set of buyout fund records, not a census of Q3 fundraising, a league table or an estimate of worldwide capital raised. It contains no first-close record.
Citation Fund I: outside LP commitments versus investable capital
On July 13, Citation announced the final close of its inaugural fund. Its outside LP hard cap was $1.1 billion. Commitments from the GP and affiliates brought Fund I’s total investable capital to $1.2 billion. The same announcement reported $2.1 billion of firm assets under management inclusive of co-investment capital. That AUM number should not replace the fund’s $1.2 billion amount.
Citation describes a North American middle-market control-buyout strategy covering services, industrials and selected consumer businesses, with a focus on founder- and family-led companies. It named pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, insurers, funds of funds, endowments, foundations and family offices among its LP categories. These are investor types, not a disclosed allocation by individual LP.
The release named four investments already completed: Cibo Vita, Aptive Environmental, Gallo Mechanical and World Travel Holdings. A final-close announcement therefore does not establish that a fund is starting investment activity on that date. Citation’s original announcement.
Warren Fund V: two partnerships, one reported close
Warren’s July 13 issuer release reported approximately $2.8 billion of commitments for Warren Equity Partners Fund V, L.P. and Fund V-A, L.P., collectively called Fund V. It said the fund exceeded a $2.25 billion target and closed at its hard cap. The release does not allocate that combined amount between the two partnerships.
The disclosed investor base comprised more than 60 global institutions, including pensions, insurers, asset managers, endowments, foundations and family offices. Warren’s flagship strategy backs businesses serving infrastructure and facilities markets, including water, power, transportation, waste and digital infrastructure. Its published transaction criteria include buyouts, corporate carve-outs and recapitalizations.
The release also mentions the separate ELIDO Fund II strategy. This register does not add ELIDO’s capital to Fund V. Warren’s operating-company strategy is included here; the infrastructure label alone should not turn this record into a direct infrastructure-asset fund. Warren’s issuer release, investment criteria.
Golden Gate Fund VII: commitments versus expected co-investments
Golden Gate’s July 20 announcement reported more than $1.5 billion of commitments to Golden Gate Capital Fund VII, L.P. and affiliated vehicles. Separately, it expected to offer approximately $1 billion of co-investments to LPs, describing $2.5 billion of total investable capital.
The distinction matters: expected co-investments are not the same reported measurement as commitments already included in the final close. This register retains the issuer’s greater-than qualifier and affiliated-vehicle boundary; it does not recast $2.5 billion as a single commingled fund close.
Fund VII targets control investments in North American companies with $20 million to $50 million of EBITDA, across industrials, consumer services, and technology and financial services. Disclosed LP categories included sovereign wealth funds, insurers, endowments, foundations and family offices. The announcement named oneZero Financial Systems and Brava Roof Tile as platform investments made before final close. Golden Gate’s original announcement.
How to use this register
For a comparable fund record, retain the exact vehicle name, announcement date, event type, currency and amount basis together. Keep a target separate from a final-close amount. Keep an issuer’s grouped vehicles together when no split is disclosed. Treat a forecast co-investment opportunity as a forecast, and label firm AUM as firm AUM.
No aggregate is calculated here because the records do not share a sufficiently uniform vehicle boundary. An arithmetic sum could conceal affiliate vehicles, parallel partnerships and expected capital. The original announcements are evidence of what the managers reported, not independent audits of subscriptions, deployment or investment performance.
The Q3 window refers to announcement dates, not legal formation dates or the dates on which every LP signed. A final close does not, by itself, show when fundraising began or when all commitments became binding. Future editions should append newly verified records using the same definitions rather than infer a market trend from this selected group.

Public records carry source-specific dates where available. No population-wide measured refresh cadence or universal verification deadline is established here. Page modified, source captured, fact observed, entity verified and aggregate measured describe different events. Check the date attached to the relevant claim; a missing verification date means unknown. Stored source history does not establish a customer-facing historical-analysis interface.
