# Ventures Platform Fund II: $64m first close to $84m final close

Ventures Platform’s Fund II added $20m and new institutional LPs between announcements 293 days apart. The dates describe public milestones, not legal close days.

Ventures Platform reported $64 million at Fund II’s first close and $84 million at its final close. Between those milestones, the fund also added a newly disclosed group of institutional LPs. The change is more informative than the final total alone: most of the eventual fund size was already represented at first close, while the investor base continued to broaden.

The manager’s [own story index](https://www.venturesplatform.com/stories) dates the first-close announcement to November 6, 2025 and the final-close announcement to August 26, 2026. The public milestones are 293 days apart. Exact legal closing days and the start of marketing are not disclosed, so that interval measures the announcement history rather than the fund’s entire time in market.

- First close: November 6, 2025 announcement; $64 million reported.
- Final close: August 26, 2026 announcement; $84 million reported.

The $20 million increase was 31.25% of the first-close amount. Viewed from the final close, the initial $64 million represented 76.2% of the eventual reported size. Neither percentage measures cash received or portfolio deployment; both compare the manager’s announced fund sizes.

## An established LP base, then additional institutional relationships

The [first-close release](https://www.venturesplatform.com/stories/ventures-platform-secures-64m-first-close-for-pan-african-fund-ii-to-power-africas-next-tech-wave) named Nigeria’s iDICE program, IFC, Standard Bank, British International Investment, Proparco, MSMEDA, AfricaGrow and Alder Tree Investment among the backers. Standard Bank described continuing its partnership into Fund II, while Proparco described renewing its support. Institutional relationships were therefore present well before the final announcement.

The [final-close release](https://www.venturesplatform.com/stories/ventures-platform-closes-pan-african-fund-ii-at-84m) explicitly distinguished those existing first-close LPs from new investors: EBRD, Norfund, Alphatron and Ashesi University Foundation, alongside new family offices. That is evidence of an expanded disclosed LP base, rather than a final-close roster that appeared all at once.

The two changes cannot be matched investor by investor. No individual tickets are given, and the $20 million difference cannot be assigned to the four newly named institutions or the family offices. Existing LPs’ final amounts are not disclosed either. For an allocator assessing institutional backing, the releases establish when relationships were publicly identified; they do not establish each investor’s share of Fund II.

## The three-year comparison uses a different clock

The final announcement describes the close as coming three years after Fund I. That compares successive funds. It does not describe Fund II’s first-to-final fundraising interval. Using it as Fund II’s duration would replace the dated November 2025 first-close milestone with an earlier fund’s history.

The investment remit also provides continuity across the two disclosures. At first close, Ventures Platform described expanding beyond its foundational pre-seed and seed investments to lead and catalyse Series A rounds across Africa. At final close, it reiterated pre-seed-to-Series-A investing and capacity to support companies through subsequent rounds. The public record supports a larger reported fund and a broader disclosed LP base around that remit, without a disclosed change to individual investor terms.

Altss’s [Q3 venture-announcement comparison](https://altss.com/blog/q3-2026-venture-fund-announcements-launch-first-sale) separates fund launches from first-sale evidence. Fund II adds a later capital-formation comparison: the first close already contained roughly three-quarters of the final announced size, but the final announcement still introduced additional institutional relationships. That is a specific account of how this fundraise developed, not a speed ranking or evidence of investment performance.
