Marcel van Poecke established AtlasInvest in 2007 following the expansion and exit of his refinery operations at Petroplus. Irina Liner serves as co-founder and director alongside him. The office applies operational experience gained in conventional energy to both legacy assets and new opportunities in the energy transition. AtlasInvest maintains positions across exploration and production, midstream infrastructure, downstream refining and renewable generation. It participates in buyouts, direct co-investments and fund commitments. Confirmed holdings include stakes in ONE-Dyas and VARO Energy alongside partners such as SHV Holdings and Vitol. The firm operates in Europe, North America, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America. Through its Carlyle relationship it also oversees the Carlyle International Energy Partners platform focused on conventional energy outside North America. The team comprises fourteen professionals in Brussels, including family members Heleen van Poecke as investment manager and Peter van Poecke as director of the real-estate arm Beryllus Financial Management. Adjacent vehicles include the Irina & Marcel van Poecke Foundation and the Borne Foundation. Marcel van Poecke serves as trustee of the Wildlife Conservation Society. Heleen van Poecke participates in the Young Investors Organization. No operational events from the last twenty-four months appear in public records. AtlasInvest’s structure integrates family principals directly into investment and real-asset decisions while maintaining a dedicated energy team that also advises external Carlyle vehicles. This hybrid model allows the office to source and execute both proprietary direct deals and large-scale fund mandates within the same platform.
