B.C. College Pension Fund

The B.C. College Pension Fund was established to provide retirement benefits to employees of British Columbia's colleges and institutes. Chris Burnley serves as chair and Adam Molineux as vice-chair of the board of trustees. The plan operates under a multi-employer structure with trustee nominations from unions and employers. Investment management is delegated to British Columbia Investment Management Corporation under an advisory mandate that began in 1999. The portfolio includes public equity positions in Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Apple as of August 2024. Private holdings encompass stakes in Tropicana Brands Group, Adams Outdoor Advertising, PS Logistics, Czech Gas Networks, and National Gas. Real estate assets comprise Northwoods Business Park and On Broadway Tech Centre, both held through joint ventures with QuadReal Property Group. The fund participates in the College Pension Plan Retirees Association and attended the CPPR Annual General Meeting in August 2024. Additional service providers include British Columbia Pension Corporation for administration, Eckler Ltd. as actuary, and KPMG as external auditor. Geographic exposure spans Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Czech Republic. Governance rests with a board of trustees nominated by the British Columbia General Employees' Union, the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators of BC, the Post-Secondary Employers' Association, and the Province of British Columbia. This structure separates plan administration from investment execution through the external manager relationship.
