Barshop Ventures, LLC was formed in the late 1990s after Sam Barshop exited La Quinta to focus on family asset management. The office traces its roots to Joe Barshop’s produce business started in 1936 and the subsequent real estate holdings built in San Antonio. Sam and his wife Ann established several Texas philanthropic vehicles, most notably the Sam and Ann Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies. The firm allocates across commercial real estate, equity and fixed income securities, alternative investments, private equity and early-stage venture capital. It executes direct co-investments and fund commitments in life sciences, information technology, software and consumer products. Geographic reach centers on North America with primary activity in Texas and selected national venture positions. Confirmed holdings include operating partnerships through Barshop & Oles and selective fund interests in the listed sectors. Bruce Barshop serves as Chairman and Ben Barshop as President. The team maintains offices in San Antonio, Dallas and Austin. No public headcount or AUM figure has been released.
