Bertel O. Steen Kapital was formed in 2019 as a dedicated unit inside the Bertel O. Steen Group. The group has remained under full family ownership for 125 years and centers on importing Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot, Kia and other automotive brands across Norway. Haakon H. Jensen and Stian Skrefsrud were appointed to run the new vehicle with an initial cash allocation that included oversight of Bertel O. Steen Power Solutions, Defence & Security and Viking footwear. The office invests in unlisted Nordic growth companies through private equity and real estate structures. It takes majority or minority positions in small and medium-sized enterprises and supplies strategic guidance plus access to the group's industrial network. Confirmed holdings and board roles include Viking Outdoor Footwear, Bertel O. Steen Industri and A-K Maskiner. Geographic focus remains Europe with primary activity in Norway and the broader Nordic region. Asset classes span Mobility & Transportation, Industrial Tech, PropTech, AgriTech & FoodTech, Healthcare Services, Sports & Wellness and GovTech. The investment team comprises five professionals. Additional real-estate holdings managed alongside the private-equity book include commercial properties in Lørenskog, Sandefjord, Bergen and Moss. The office maintains memberships in AmCham Norway, the Norwegian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association and the Swedish Security and Defence Industry Association through its defence platform. A structural distinction arises from the office's position inside a century-old operating company. Investment decisions sit alongside active management of the parent's mobility, defence and footwear businesses, creating direct operational overlap rather than a pure financial mandate.
