Burda Principal Investments was established in 2016 as the dedicated investment arm of Hubert Burda Media, the German media conglomerate controlled by the Burda family. Hubert Burda founded the parent company and remains its owner. The office invests the family's capital alongside the media group's existing internet holdings that date back to 1998. The firm commits to growth equity and late-stage rounds in digital technology and media companies. It participates through direct co-investments and SPVs rather than blind-pool funds. Confirmed holdings include Vinted, Nord Security, Aleph Alpha, Carsome, Bloom & Wild, Buycycle, Planet A Foods and Uluu. Geographic coverage spans Europe, North America and Asia. The strategy emphasizes long-term ownership and operational support in internationalization and localization. Team members sit in four offices and make decisions collectively without deal allocation. No headcount figure has been published. Adjacent vehicles include the Felix Burda Foundation and the Hubert Burda Foundation. BPI marks five years of ESG leadership and recently led the Series A round in Uluu. The structure sits inside a large operating media company rather than as a standalone family office. This integration supplies sector expertise and brand access that external investors lack. Capital allocation remains tied to the family's direct ownership of Hubert Burda Media.
