Carnegie Science, formerly known as the Carnegie Institution of Washington and Carnegie Institution for Science, is an independent, nonprofit research organization established in 1902. Its mission is to advance investigation, research, and discovery, applying that knowledge for the improvement of humankind. Carnegie scientists are leaders in various fields, including astronomy, Earth and planetary science, genetics, global ecology, and plant science, pursuing fundamental discoveries about life, planets, and the broader universe.
