Central Kansas Community Foundation was established in 1994 in Newton, Kansas, and Angie Tatro has been its chief executive since inception. It operates as a centralized philanthropic vehicle for six local affiliates: Augusta, El Dorado, Hesston, Hillsboro, Newton, and Peabody Community Foundations. The foundation is not tied to a single family's wealth but aggregates charitable gifts from regional donors and deploys them to improve quality of life across its footprint. The CKCF manages a balanced investment pool for its endowed funds alongside a portfolio of directly held real estate, including its headquarters at 400 South Main Street in Newton and the Hillsboro Community Child Care Center building. It also maintains the Carriage Factory Art Gallery collection on East 6th Street. Grantmaking and operational support flow to local nonprofits, with programmatic partners including the Patterson Family Foundation, which provides matching grants, and the Kansas Health Foundation, which collaborates on the Grow II initiative for community endowments. The foundation's geographic focus is south-central Kansas. CKCF is a nationally accredited community foundation through the Council on Foundations and a member of the Kansas Association of Community Foundations. Its board is chaired by Heather Porter, who is also associated with NMC Health, while Keegan LeFevre serves as vice-chair alongside his role at Everence Financial.
