The Indian Community School was founded in 1971 to provide culturally rooted education to Native American children in the Milwaukee area, eventually settling on a 178-acre campus in Franklin, Wisconsin. The school's endowment traces its origins to revenue-sharing agreements with the Forest County Potawatomi Community, whose gaming operations provided the initial capital base. Today, the school integrates Native teachings across its curriculum, fostering cultural identity alongside academic rigor for its K-8 student body. The endowment's investment strategy spans a broad mix of asset classes, including venture capital, growth equity, buyouts, distressed debt, special situations, and fund-of-funds commitments, spanning stages from seed to late-stage expansion.
