The firm intentionally avoids pure seed-stage risk and does not compete with large late-stage growth funds, instead bridging the gap where Israeli enterprise startups need capital to scale sales and engineering before raising larger US-led rounds.

JAL describes itself as a private equity firm, but in practice operates with a growth-equity posture typical of Israeli enterprise investors. It takes minority and control-oriented positions in revenue-stage companies and holds concentrated portfolios, distinguishing it from both broad venture capital platforms and traditional buyout funds.

The firm targets enterprise software, cybersecurity, fintech, and applied AI — specifically B2B companies with recurring revenue models. It does not invest in consumer internet, deep tech hardware, medical devices, or pre-revenue science projects.

JAL's investment mandate is overwhelmingly Israel-based. While its portfolio companies sell into the US and European markets, the firm sources and invests in Israeli-headquartered enterprise technology companies, with its single office in Herzliya.

With a concentrated portfolio of fewer than a dozen active names, JAL partners typically join portfolio company boards and work actively on go-to-market strategy, sales-team hiring, and follow-on fundraising. The firm emphasizes operational scaffolding over passive capital allocation.
