Fatoumata Bâ, the firm's founder and Executive Chair, sets investment strategy and oversees the investment committee. She brings operational experience from scaling Jumia across Francophone Africa and previously ran an early-stage tech fund at a major telecom group. The firm's senior investment team operates from Abidjan with coverage across West, East, and North Africa.

Janngo operates a blended-capital structure. The venture fund makes equity investments in tech startups, while a separate project-preparation facility — funded by development finance institutions — provides technical assistance and de-risking capital. Anchor LPs include the European Investment Bank, African Development Bank, and Proparco.

Janngo publicly commits to ensuring that at least 50% of its portfolio companies are women-founded or women-led. This is a binding investment-policy metric, not a marketing pledge. The mandate aligns with the 2X Challenge criteria used by DFIs to measure gender-lens investing, making Janngo a direct vehicle for institutional capital targeting gender-equitable outcomes in emerging markets.

Janngo invests from seed through Series B in fintech, health-tech, agritech, logistics, and enterprise software. The firm seeks platforms that use technology to unlock access to services for underserved African consumers and SMEs. Geographic focus covers Francophone West Africa, Anglophone East Africa, and select North African markets.

Janngo primarily makes direct equity investments in startups, leading or co-leading rounds. The firm reserves capital for follow-on investments through later stages. It does not operate as a fund-of-funds, though its DFI backing creates a capital structure uncommon among purely commercial venture firms.
