Stephen Ross, as the founder and sole financial backer of Related Companies, remains the central decision-maker for Mission Services. The office's most significant moves—like the 2009 acquisition of the Miami Dolphins or the 2006 Equinox investment—all bear the signature of a principal-directed strategy. There is no external advisory board or investment committee structure disclosed.

It functions as a hybrid, with direct operational control embedded into its core holdings. Unlike an office that merely manages financial assets, Mission Services operates the Miami Dolphins business and exerts significant influence over Equinox Group. This structure allows Ross to blend asset management with active, hands-on operational oversight of trophy properties.

Stephen Ross co-founded RSE Ventures in 2017 with Matt Higgins as a distinct venture investing platform, separate from the core Mission Services portfolio. While Mission Services holds controlling stakes in mature, capital-intensive assets, RSE Ventures pursues growth-stage and incubation opportunities in sports-adjacent technology and consumer brands. Both vehicles ultimately manage Ross family capital but target different stages and asset types (per the firm's official communications).

Mission Services itself does not appear to be the primary vehicle for Ross's real estate activity; that role sits with Related Companies, his development and property management firm. Mission Services focuses on the non-real-estate operating businesses and trophy assets, such as sports franchises and branded fitness holdings, effectively keeping the operating company portfolio separate from the core real estate development engine.

No comprehensive, public succession plan exists for the office as a single entity. Some individual assets have begun to show early signs of transition—Stephen Ross's daughter, Jennifer Ross, was named Vice Chair of the Miami Dolphins, signaling a possible future leadership role within that specific holding. The overarching structure, however, remains centralized under Stephen Ross's direct control.
