NB Group Investors

We are an investment firm focused on helping to grow exceptional founder and family owned businesses in the Multi Location Services and Healthcare sectors. We invest $10 to 50 million in companies with $3 to 15 million of EBITDA. Our preference is for control (51%+ ownership) or significant minority ownership, but we are highly flexible. Unlike a traditional private equity firm, we only focus on a handful of opportunities at a given time, which allows us to spend more time with our portfolio companies. We do not operate companies day-to-day - that’s for the management team and owners we invest behind. We do, however, work actively with the companies we invest in, particularly around growth initiatives. Whether it’s investing in building a sales force, ramping up marketing spend, or acquiring competitors, we look for opportunities where our firm’s skillset can help accelerate sales and profitability.

Frequently asked questions

What is NB Group Investors' typical investment size and target company profile?

The firm typically invests $10 million to $50 million in equity for companies with $3 million to $15 million of EBITDA. It targets founder- and family-owned businesses in multi-location consumer services and healthcare across the US and Canada. The mandate covers both majority and significant minority positions, with deal structures tailored to each owner’s objectives.

How does NB Group create value after acquiring a company?

NB Group’s post-close model is operationally focused on revenue acceleration. It dedicates the majority of its time to growth initiatives such as building a sales force, expanding marketing spend, acquiring competitors, upgrading financial reporting, and recruiting key talent. The firm deliberately keeps its portfolio small — only a handful of companies at a time — to provide that hands-on support, and targets 2–3x growth in business size over a multi-year hold.

Does NB Group operate the companies it acquires?

No. The firm states it does not manage day-to-day operations, which remain with the existing management team and owners. NB Group positions itself as an active growth partner, working alongside operators on strategic planning, M&A evaluation, and functional build-outs, but not running the business directly.

How is NB Group structured differently from a traditional private equity firm?

NB Group runs a deliberately concentrated portfolio — a handful of investments rather than dozens — which allows its small team to dedicate significant time to each company. The firm also structures deals with flexible holding periods, stating it can remain invested well beyond the typical 4-to-6-year window when the growth opportunity merits it. This approach gives it a posture closer to a permanent-capital platform than a conventional drawdown fund.

What sectors does NB Group explicitly avoid?

NB Group’s stated focus is multi-location consumer services and healthcare. The firm publicly confirms that it only invests within its target sectors and does not consider opportunities outside of multi-unit services and healthcare, though no explicit list of excluded verticals is published.

Who runs investment decisions at NB Group?

The firm has not publicly disclosed the names of its founders, managing partners, or investment committee members. It describes the team as small, entrepreneurial, and composed of direct decision-makers without layers of analysts and associates — but the specific principals remain unlisted.

Does NB Group maintain any philanthropic structures or separate operating entities?

There is no public disclosure of a related philanthropic foundation, operating company, or separate investment vehicle. The firm presents itself solely as a private investment firm managing a concentrated portfolio of control and significant-minority positions.
