Reitan Kapital was established in 2016 to manage liquidity generated by the Reitan Group. Odd Reitan founded the underlying retail business in 1948. The office preserves that capital for successive generations while maintaining separation from day-to-day retail operations. The portfolio mixes global equity index exposure tracking the MSCI ACWI IMI with fixed-income holdings benchmarked to the Bloomberg Multiverse Index. Direct real estate includes the 2024 acquisition of 13 office properties totaling 187,268 sqm from Entra ASA in Trondheim. Additional holdings encompass Britannia Hotel in Trondheim and logistics assets through RELOG AS across Scandinavia. The firm also allocates to catastrophe bonds and music royalties. Reitan Kapital employs a small internal team led by CEO Magnus Reitan and CIO Håkon Kavli. The office sponsored the Reitan Kapital Investing Conference in Trondheim in November 2024. Magnus Reitan appeared on Rational Reminder Podcast Episode 334 in December 2024 to discuss evidence-based investing for significant family wealth. Adjacent vehicles include the PoMo contemporary art museum in Trondheim and a partnership with the Nobel Peace Center. Ownership of the core retail and property operating companies remains 100 percent within Reitan AS, creating a clean separation between the family’s private businesses and the liquid investment mandate executed by Reitan Kapital.
