Deal sourcing is tied directly to Robertson Group's core construction and facilities management business. The office invests in projects where Robertson Group can act as main contractor or operator — such as the Macallan Distillery Visitor Experience, which the group built. This creates a captive pipeline and operational diligence advantage that external investors cannot replicate.

The office primarily executes direct investments, but it does co-invest through institutional vehicles. It is a partner with 3i Infrastructure in the Elgin Infrastructure Fund, blending direct real asset ownership with selective fund co-investment.

The wealth was generated by Robertson Group, a UK tier-one construction, infrastructure, and support services business founded in 1966 by Sir Bill Robertson. The group remains family-owned and has grown to 3,000 employees, generating over £1.17bn in social value since 2020.

In 2013, Robertson Capital Projects sold a portfolio of 21 private finance initiative (PFI) projects to Dalmore Capital, a UK infrastructure fund manager. This remains the most significant liquidity event on the public record and demonstrates the office's willingness to monetize mature infrastructure assets.

The office does not publicly solicit third-party capital. It structures co-investments with institutional partners like 3i Infrastructure on a deal-by-deal basis rather than through a pooled fund, maintaining the family's control over its balance sheet while accessing larger transactions.

There is no strict separation. Robertson Capital Projects operates as a corporate investment vehicle within Robertson Group, not as an independent single-family office. The group's executive team, led by Elliot Robertson and John Watson, runs both the operating business and the investment portfolio.
