Segittur

Segittur is a state-owned company reporting to Spain's Ministry of Industry and Tourism and adscribed to the State Secretariat for Tourism. Its President, Enrique Martínez Marín, leads execution alongside the Secretariat, which sets policy priorities. The firm's activities are defined by its published axes of action — digital promotion, digital transformation, smart destinations, internationalization, and sustainability.

Segittur does not operate as a private equity or venture capital investor. It deploys Next Generation EU funds through structured grant calls, such as the Convocatoria Ayudas Plataforma Inteligente de Destinos, which finance technology adoption at local tourism authorities. It also builds and operates national digital platforms including Spain.info, the PID, and Dataestur.

The Red de Destinos Turísticos Inteligentes is a network of more than 700 Spanish destinations committed to adopting the DTI model. Managed by Segittur, it functions as a continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing group where members apply a standardized methodology outlined in the Libro Blanco DTI. The network includes cities, counties, and regions that undergo diagnostics and audits to become certified smart destinations.

Segittur's known investment activity focuses on platform development and grant distribution, not direct equity investments in startups. Through its internationalization arm and events like Fitur Know-How & Export, it facilitates connections between Spanish tourism tech firms and foreign buyers, but does not take balance-sheet equity positions.

Segittur is an Affiliate Member of UN Tourism and holds a seat on the Board of the Affiliate Members. This position lets it influence global smart-tourism standards and export Spain's DTI methodology to other member states. It uses the affiliation to align Spanish destinations with international best practices and to shape the Smart Destinations program as a reference model.

Segittur is a publicly owned company with a legal mandate to execute national tourism policy. Unlike a consultancy, it operates permanent digital infrastructure for the entire country and distributes public funds. Unlike a venture builder, it does not seek equity returns. Its asset is the network of destinations and the methodologies it controls, not a financial portfolio.

Segittur's economic information is published in its transparency portal, but the company does not disclose an AUM. It primarily draws funds from Spanish government budgets and Next Generation EU allocations. Its grant programs distribute EU recovery money to local entities, while operational budgets come through the Ministry of Industry and Tourism.
