Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited is a global investment company headquartered in Singapore and wholly owned by the Singapore Minister for Finance. Incorporated on 25 June 1974 under the Singapore Companies Act to commercially manage assets previously held by the Singapore Government, it operates as an independent commercial entity rather than a government agency or statutory board (per official FAQs and corporate governance pages). As a generational investor guided by its Purpose “So Every Generation Prospers,” Charter, and Values, Temasek seeks to deliver good sustainable returns over the long term with sustainability at its core. As at 31 March 2026, net portfolio value (NPV) reached S$518 billion (US$401 billion) on a mark-to-market basis, doubling over the prior decade, with one-year total shareholder return of 10.5% (per Temasek Review 2026 and official press release of 8 July 2026). The diversified portfolio comprises three segments: Singapore-based Temasek Portfolio Companies (43%), Global Direct Investments (38%), and Partnerships, Funds, and Asset Management Companies (19%). Temasek maintains 13 offices across nine countries and a multinational team of over 970 people. It publishes the annual Temasek Review as a public performance scoreboard, reports consolidated group financials, holds Aaa/AAA credit ratings, and is designated a Fifth Schedule entity under the Singapore Constitution with safeguards for past reserves.
