Thirdrock Group was established in 2010 in Singapore by Jason Lai and Melvyn Yeo. Lai currently serves as CEO of Schroders Wealth Management Asia alongside his Thirdrock role, while Yeo founded TRIREC, a venture capital firm focused on decarbonization. Lawrence Wu, co-founder of Sunseap Group, joined as a business partner in the ISSEA advisory arm. The firm's former chief economist, Jamus Lim, is now an Associate Professor at ESSEC and an elected Member of Parliament in Singapore. The firm's strategy spans three lanes: corporate advisory covering M&A and capital raising, principal private equity investments, and real estate via Thirdrock Real Estate Holdings. The real estate portfolio targets mixed-use assets across Singapore and Asia-Pacific. Thirdrock's philanthropic engagement includes support for the Halogen Foundation, a Singapore-based youth leadership nonprofit. The firm's structural differentiator is its dual identity as both a principal investor and an advisory platform, with its senior partners simultaneously leading separate but complementary institutions — Schroders Wealth Management Asia, TRIREC, and the ISSEA advisory entity. This allows Thirdrock to source deal flow through multiple independent origination channels and to deploy across asset classes without the constraints of a unified fund structure.
