Wacker Pension Fund

The Wacker Pension Fund was established in 1928 to provide retirement benefits to employees of Wacker Chemie AG. It operates as a private sector pension fund under the legal form Pensionskasse der Wacker Chemie VVaG. The fund also covers staff at affiliated companies including Siltronic AG and certain Westlake Corporation German employees. Allocations span global equities, corporate bonds, emerging market debt, promissory notes, and real estate mortgages. The fund holds limited partner interests in European and US buyout funds as well as distressed debt and mezzanine vehicles. Confirmed positions include an interest in Mercurius Private Equity and direct ownership of the WACKER House commercial property in Munich's Werksviertel district. Geographic exposure centers on Germany with additional commitments across Europe and the United States. The fund reports approximately 3,141 million USD in assets. It maintains a foundation arm through the Wacker Foundation and the WACKER Relief Fund. In October 2024 the fund attended the PDI DACH Forum in Munich to discuss private debt and strategic allocation topics. Frank Reinhardt serves as chairman while former head of investments Gunar Lietz previously sat on the advisory board of BAI. The fund participates in the multi-employer pension arrangement sponsored by Wacker Chemie AG. This structure links investment decisions directly to the contribution base of the chemical group and its affiliates rather than operating as an independent asset manager.
