William Pears Group

Mark Pears, as Executive Chairman and CEO, holds primary decision-making authority for the group's investment strategy and capital allocation. His brothers, Sir Trevor Pears and David Pears, serve as directors and are involved in governance and oversight. For the Talisman Global Asset Management platform, Nick Cavalla operates as CEO with a mandate to manage external hedge fund allocations and manager seeding, representing a rare delegation of investment discretion outside the immediate family.

The group's real estate acquisition pipeline relies on its six-decade network of UK and European property brokers, direct relationships with distressed sellers, and corporate carve-outs — most notably the original Telereal Trillium venture, which was structured directly with the UK government. The group deploys capital through both channels. Directly, it owns and manages residential and commercial property across London, Berlin, and New York, and operates a direct secured lending book. Through Talisman Global Asset Management, it commits to external hedge funds as a fund-of-funds allocator and also engages in hedge fund seeding. Talisman notably manages capital for third-party institutional clients alongside the Pears family's own commitments.

Telereal Trillium is a joint venture formed through the merger of the Pears family's property company, Telereal, with Trillium, the property outsourcing and asset management business originally acquired from Land Securities. The combined entity manages a significant portfolio of UK government buildings and operating estate under long-term concession agreements. The William Pears Group remains the controlling shareholder behind the venture.

The Pears Foundation operates as a legally distinct charitable entity, chaired by Sir Trevor Pears. It is one of the largest family foundations in the UK by grant-making volume, focusing on social integration, Jewish life, and Holocaust memory. While funded by endowment contributions from the family's wealth, its governance and grant-making are separated from the group's commercial real estate and investment management operations.

The group's real estate portfolio concentrates on the United Kingdom, with London and the South East representing the largest single exposure. Internationally, it maintains a counter-cyclical residential portfolio in Berlin for German market exposure and a small collection of residential units in New York City. Its lending portfolio is exclusively UK-focused, while the Talisman hedge fund platform holds globally diversified manager commitments.

The core entity operates as a single family office managing the Pears family's wealth directly. However, through its Talisman Global Asset Management subsidiary, the group also manages third-party institutional capital via a fund-of-hedge-funds and manager seeding platform, making the overall structure a hybrid between a pure family office and an asset management firm.
