Katerra, Inc. and debtor affiliates · United States · Construction technology

Evidence reviewed Oct 26, 2026. Historical event record.

Katerra entered Chapter 11 in June 2021. A buyer subsequently obtained court approval to purchase assets at its shuttered Tracy manufacturing facility.

## Historical private valuation

Chairman and co-founder Michael Marks told Bloomberg that the private company’s valuation exceeded $3 billion after the SoftBank-led financing. This is a reported historical lower bound, not a claimed peak.

## Documented event

Chapter 11 protection sought · Jun 6, 2021

No transaction price shown. The subsequent buyer’s announcement identifies June 6, 2021 as Katerra’s bankruptcy filing date and the Tracy transaction as a court-supervised asset sale.

## What changed

The insolvency and factory closure concerned the original Katerra business. Approval of the Tracy asset transaction created a route for another manufacturer to reuse part of the operation; it does not establish that every international affiliate or acquired asset permanently closed.
