Frequently asked questions
Why did Blueseed choose a ship in international waters as its platform?
The ship location, 12 nautical miles off the coast, placed it outside US territorial jurisdiction. This allowed foreign entrepreneurs to live and work there without a US visa, while still being able to travel to the mainland for meetings under short-term business visitor rules. The model treated geography as a fix for immigration policy, not as a political statement.
Did Blueseed ever launch or gain regulatory approval?
No. The project secured letters of intent from potential customers but never raised the capital required to purchase and retrofit a vessel. A scaled-down concept was proposed in 2014 but also did not materialize. There is no operational entity today.
What was the capital structure or funding model for Blueseed?
Blueseed was to be funded by a combination of venture equity and customer pre-payments via an Indiegogo-style campaign and letters of intent. The firm did not disclose an investment vehicle or a traditional AUM, and no asset-management function was ever established.
Who runs investment decisions at Blueseed?
Blueseed never developed an investment function. Co-founder and CEO Max Marty was the public lead for all strategic decisions. No CIO or investment committee was formed because the project did not progress to an operational stage.
How is Blueseed related to Singularity University?
Co-founders Max Marty and Dario Mutabdzija met while working as directors at Singularity University. Blueseed was an independent spin-off concept. There is no known ongoing structural or financial link between the two entities.
