Kurt Hübner founded the business in Kassel, Germany in 1946, building rubber and plastic components for a post-war industrial economy. His son Reinhard Hübner expanded the company beyond manufacturing into a multi-division technology group, with Reinhard remaining active as Owner and Chairman of the Advisory Board. The third generation entered formally in 2025 when grandniece Nora Oberländer joined General Management. The group's strategy operates through three divisions: Mobility, Materials, and Photonics. HÜBNER Photonics produces lasers and measurement systems for medical technology, life sciences, and industrial applications, competing in the precision-optics supply chain. The Mobility division supplies articulated gangway systems and sealing components to rail operators globally — a durable, infrastructure-linked cash flow stream. Corporate investment activity includes limited-partner commitments to funds like High-Tech Gründerfonds IV, a German seed-stage vehicle focused on deep-tech startups, giving the group disciplined exposure to early-stage innovation without running an in-house VC arm.
