Frequently asked questions
Who runs the New York Private Equity Network?
NYPEN is managed by a volunteer leadership committee of active investment professionals drawn from member firms such as General Atlantic, Warburg Pincus, 3i, Ares Management, and Elliott Management. An advisory board provides additional guidance. The organization has no paid executive director or full-time staff; leadership rotates periodically among member-firm volunteers.
How does NYPEN source content and programming?
Programming is member-driven and sponsor-supported. Education events feature senior PE practitioners as presenters and panelists, covering practitioner-identified topics such as contract negotiation, management assessment, and board effectiveness. Sponsors like Kirkland & Ellis and Alvarez & Marsal contribute expertise and underwriting but do not control the agenda, which is set by the volunteer leadership committee.
Is NYPEN a family office or investment fund?
No. NYPEN is a professional association, not an investment entity. It does not manage or deploy capital, nor does it take fees on investments. Its function is to facilitate education and networking among private equity investment professionals in the New York City area.
Who qualifies for membership?
Membership is limited to professionals employed by private equity and venture capital firms. Service providers such as bankers, consultants, and lawyers are not eligible for membership, although select firms sponsor NYPEN programming. Verification is conducted via work email at registration.
Does NYPEN maintain any philanthropic or related entities?
There is no public disclosure of a separate philanthropic foundation or related investment vehicle operated under the NYPEN umbrella. The organization functions solely as a peer network, managed by volunteers and funded in part by sponsor relationships.
