Propio Language Services was launched in 1998 by Joe Fackrell, who recognized a need for medical interpretation while working as a night auditor. The company’s first client was a Kansas clinic; within months it won four major accounts. Today, Propio is headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, with an additional office in Minneapolis. The firm delivers language services across healthcare, legal, education, and community settings. Its offerings include Video-Remote Interpreting (VRI), Over-the-Phone Interpreting (OPI), translation/localization in 200+ languages, and on-site interpretation. Propio’s proprietary technology stack includes Propio ONE for VRI, Propio Analytics for real-time metrics, and Propio Workforce OS for scheduling. Customers include Premier and Vizient (per the firm’s website). Propio employs over 670 staff and works with roughly 20,000 interpreters. It maintains an industry-standards compliance posture covering HIPAA, FERPA, and GLBA. The firm has won multiple industry awards and holds memberships in the Association of Language Companies, American Translators Association, and others.
