SYZ Group emerged in 1996 when Eric Syz, a former Lombard Odier private banker, launched the firm in Geneva with a focus on entrepreneurial wealth. The group combines a Swiss-regulated bank with asset management capabilities, serving wealthy families and institutional investors. Its distinct two-pillar structure forms around Banco SYZ — a boutique private bank — and the asset management division that houses SYZ Capital. Strategy spans liquid alternatives, hedge fund solutions, and private markets through SYZ Capital. The private-markets arm targets direct co-investments, secondaries, and specialist funds, with over $2.5B deployed since launch. Publicly confirmed positions include Orolia, a precision timing firm exited to Safran, and direct real estate in university towns across Germany. Geographic focus runs across Switzerland and continental Europe, with a growing presence in the Middle East from the Dubai office that serves GCC family offices. In May 2023, the firm appointed Nicolas Syz as Group CEO, formalizing a generational transition while Eric Syz remains Chairman. The firm operates five offices — Geneva, Zurich, Lugano, Basel, and Dubai. Beyond SYZ Capital, the group includes a dedicated wealth-management unit within Banco SYZ and the OYSTER fund range, which offers UCITS-compliant strategies. Eric Syz also controls the art-focused venture, SYZ Art Advisory, operating outside the regulated perimeter.
