ISP Group

Ivan Pictet chairs ISP Group and serves as the key decision-maker for family investment strategy. He is a seventh-generation descendant of the founding Pictet family and previously served as a senior managing partner at Pictet Group, the private bank from which the family's wealth originated.

ISP Group sources deals primarily through the extended Pictet network — a web of European business owners, family offices, and financial intermediaries cultivated over more than two centuries. The office also accesses opportunities through its fund commitments, where general partners often offer co-investment rights to large, long-standing limited partners.

ISP Group operates primarily as the Pictet family's single-family office but recently extended its capabilities externally. In May 2024, ISP Group AG received FINMA authorization as a regulated asset manager, permitting the office to open select strategies to outside investors.

ISP Group pursues a hybrid approach: the office makes direct private equity and real estate investments while also committing capital to third-party hedge funds and private equity funds. Direct holdings allow multi-decade hold periods without fund-life constraints, while fund commitments offer diversification and access to strategies the lean Geneva team does not manage internally.

ISP Group evaluates co-investment opportunities offered by its existing general partners, a common practice for large, patient family offices that enhances return potential while reducing blended fees. The office does not market itself as a co-investment partner to the broader GP community.

The wealth managed by ISP Group originates from the Pictet family's ownership of Pictet Group, the Geneva-based private bank founded in 1805. As of 2023, Pictet Group held more than CHF 600 billion in assets under management or custody across its wealth management, asset management, and asset servicing divisions.

ISP Group is a separate legal entity from Pictet Group, the private bank. While both share the Pictet family as owners, ISP Group manages the family's direct investment portfolio independently, free from the bank's client obligations, regulatory capital requirements, and public reporting structure.
