100 Seeds Atlantic

100 Seeds Atlantic is a Canada-based non-profit organization fostering youth entrepreneurship in Atlantic Canada through micro-grants and pitch events, created in response to the Now or Never report. Its flagship event model brings together 100 entrepreneurs and business leaders who each purchase a $100 ticket to attend. At the event, three vetted youth venture finalists pitch their business ventures in eight minutes or less. The attending entrepreneurs and business leaders then vote, and the winning company receives $10,000, representing 100% of funds collected from ticket sales. Finalists sign a letter committing to spend their funds on their venture in accordance with CRA regulations. The organization describes this approach as taking a calculated chance on qualified, committed young entrepreneurs to invest in the next generation of business leaders in Nova Scotia. Events have been held at venues including Saint Mary's University and the Halifax Central Library.
