Aage V. Jensen built the foundation from wealth earned in Danish construction. The endowment began with a focus on nature conservation and wildlife protection. It operates through two main vehicles, the Aage V. Jensen Charity Foundation and Aage V. Jensen Naturfond. The foundation commits capital to biodiversity, endangered species and habitat restoration. It participates in co-funding vehicles such as the Donors' Initiative for Mediterranean Freshwater Ecosystems alongside the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the MAVA Foundation.
