Accor was founded in 1967 and grew into a listed hospitality company headquartered in the Paris suburb of Issy-les-Moulineaux. Sébastien Bazin, previously head of Colony Capital Europe, became chairman and CEO in 2013. The company’s wealth stems from its public listing and operating cash flows rather than any single family branch. Accor deploys capital into owned hotels, branded residences, and select operating businesses. Confirmed holdings include The OWO Residences by Raffles, Fairmont Residences Al Marjan Island, and the QE2 in Dubai. It also owns the Art Series Hotel Collection in Australia and 21c Museum Hotels in the United States. Geographic reach covers Europe, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii. The firm participates in joint ventures and direct ownership rather than fund commitments. Accor employs staff across its global properties and maintains additional operating bases through subsidiaries. It holds a 66.67 percent stake in Ennismore and 100 percent of sbe Entertainment Group and Onefinestay. April 2024: Sébastien Bazin spoke at the International Hotel Investment Forum in Berlin on the asset-light ecosystem and loyalty programs. The group also runs two philanthropic vehicles, the Accor Heartist Solidarity Endowment Fund and the All Heartist Fund established in 2020. Accor’s structure combines a listed parent with direct control of real-estate assets and operating companies, creating a hybrid posture between corporate owner and investor. Major shareholders Qatar Investment Authority, Jin Jiang International, and Kingdom Holding Company each hold board seats and influence capital allocation.
