Arizona Tech Investors

Arizona Tech Investors is governed by its membership rather than a single fund manager. Each deal undergoes a screening committee review, but ultimately individual members decide for themselves whether to invest. This distributed model means no single person controls the portfolio, and investment decisions reflect the collective judgment of active members at any given time.

Deal flow comes through member networks, regional accelerators, and relationships with Arizona State University and other local institutions. ATI also receives direct applications from startups and referrals from other angel groups active in the Southwest. The screening process prioritizes companies that have some traction or institutional interest beyond a concept stage.

ATI is an angel network, not a pooled fund. Members pay dues to support operations and gain access to screened deal flow, but investment capital comes directly from individual members on a deal-by-deal basis. This contrasts with a venture fund where limited partners commit capital upfront to a blind pool managed by a general partner.

ATI focuses exclusively on direct investments in early-stage companies. The group does not operate as a fund of funds or make commitments to external venture managers. Members invest directly through special-purpose vehicles or individual checks, depending on the round structure.

ATI concentrates on seed and startup-stage companies, often serving as the first institutional or sophisticated-angel capital a company receives. The group occasionally participates in growth rounds for existing portfolio companies but does not lead later-stage or Series B-and-beyond rounds as an organization.
