Boecore is not an investment firm. The company is an engineering and technology services contractor whose strategic decisions are made by founder and CEO Kathy Boe. The firm allocates its own operating capital and pursues mergers and acquisitions to expand its technical capabilities, as seen with the acquisition of Ascension Engineering Group in 2024.

Boecore is a known contributor to the Missile Defense Agency's Ground-based Midcourse Defense system and the Space Development Agency's Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture. The firm also supports Air Force Research Laboratory programs in algorithmic warfare, digital engineering, and space control. Its acquisition of Ascension Engineering Group further embedded it in overhead persistent infrared and missile warning missions.

Boecore primarily operates through indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) vehicles, which provide a streamlined contracting mechanism for defense agencies. The firm participates as both a prime contractor and subcontractor, with specific contract vehicles tied to the Missile MDA and the US Space Force.
