The California Institute of Technology Endowment was established with the founding of the institute in 1891. Its assets support ongoing operations and capital projects at the Pasadena campus. Management falls to the Caltech Investment Office. Allocations include public equity positions in NVIDIA, Alphabet, Apple, Amazon, and Microsoft. Venture commitments run through New Enterprise Associates, Accel Internet Fund II, Domain Partners IV, and Sprout Capital VIII. Real asset holdings cover 124 acres of campus property plus additional residential and commercial parcels valued at $473 million. Geographic exposure centers on the United States and Asia. The endowment lists 9 named assets and 5 private holdings. It maintains membership in NACUBO. In May 2025 the office participated as a speaker at the Milken Institute Global Conference. Service providers include BNY Mellon as custodian and PricewaterhouseCoopers as auditor. Investment decisions rest with the Chief Investment Officer and the Investment Committee chaired by Timothy J. Sloan. The structure separates endowment management from the institute's operating budget while allowing direct ownership of physical campus assets.
