Founder Taimur Abdaal, a former data scientist at Google, and CPO Lukas Köbis, an ex-product lead at GetYourGuide, developed Causal to compress multi-day financial reporting workflows into what the company claims are 20-hour-per-month savings for users. The platform sits at the intersection of Enterprise Software and FinTech, offering a cloud-based extended planning and analysis (xP&A) tool that integrates with ERP, HRIS, and CRM systems. Deployment spans headcount planning, financial consolidation, scenario analysis, and dynamic forecasting, serving over 6,000 brands globally. Following the 2024 acquisition by Lucanet, a German corporate-performance-management (CPM) consolidator backed by Hg, the combined entity reports 6,000+ customers and a presence across Europe and North America. The deal folded Causal's natural-language modeling engine into Lucanet's existing suite of financial consolidation and intercompany reconciliation tools. Headcount and additional offices post-merger remain undisclosed, though Lucanet operates its headquarters in Berlin with a network of offices across Europe and the United States. Causal's structural differentiator is its plain-English modeling language.
