Dickinson College traces its endowment to 1783, created to generate perpetual support for the Pennsylvania liberal arts college. John E. Jones III serves as president and Douglas J. Pauls chairs the board of trustees. The endowment supplies annual distributions that fund scholarships and academic programs. Investure LLC has acted as outsourced chief investment officer since 2006. The firm allocates across private equity, hedge funds, venture capital, private credit, real estate and public equities. Confirmed holdings include an 80 percent position in the Investure Managed Pool and separate sleeves for venture capital and real assets. Geographic exposure reaches Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America. The endowment also commits to a dedicated sustainability series managed by Investure. The college reports 272 employees and maintains its main campus plus satellite properties in Carlisle. Direct real-estate holdings include the Rector Science Complex, the Weiss Center for the Arts and the Dickinson College Farm. In February 2025 the endowment participated as an observer at the IPCC 62nd Session in Hangzhou. The college belongs to the Intentional Endowments Network and holds a gold rating under AASHE STARS. Asset management occurs through a consortium vehicle rather than a standalone family office or foundation. This arrangement lets Dickinson access scale and co-investment opportunities that would otherwise require larger internal staff. Governance rests with the board investment committee, which sets policy while Investure executes day-to-day decisions.
