It operates as one of two divisions under the Evolve umbrella organization, alongside the Evolve Foundation, which makes philanthropic grants and pursues direct initiatives. Evolve Ventures was initially funded with $100 million by the Shao family and invests in for-profit companies. The firm is led by Managing Director Julius Mokrauer, who serves on the Evolve Ventures Investment Committee and previously was Managing Director and Fund Manager at Serious Change, a pioneering early-stage impact venture fund. Evolve's broader activities span impact investing and catalytic philanthropy, with notable focus areas including the psychedelic movement and spiritual education.
