Farm Credit System
Farm Credit is a nationwide network of customer-owned cooperatives that supports rural communities and agriculture with reliable, consistent credit and financial services. It supports 615,000+ farmers, ranchers, farmer co-ops, agribusinesses, rural infrastructure providers and rural homebuyers in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Although Congress created Farm Credit in 1916, it does not receive any government funding or tax dollars. It raises funds by selling debt securities through the Federal Farm Credit Banks Funding Corporation and returns patronage dividends to customer-owners.
