Fenghui Capital

Fenghui Capital was founded by Zhang Lei, the prominent investor who also founded Hillhouse Capital, one of Asia's largest and most influential investment firms. Zhang launched Fenghui in 2015 as a separate entity with a distinct investment mandate, operating independently from Hillhouse's multi-strategy platform.

While Hillhouse Capital manages a broad, multi-strategy platform spanning public equities, private equity, and real assets across Asia, Fenghui Capital was established with a more concentrated mandate, focusing on early-stage to growth-stage investments in technology and healthcare. Fenghui operates with a smaller portfolio and a longer holding period, without the quarterly reporting pressures that Hillhouse's institutional fund structure sometimes entails.

Fenghui Capital is headquartered in Shanghai and the majority of its known investments are in Chinese companies. However, the firm's mandate does not restrict it to China exclusively, and given Zhang Lei's global investment track record through Hillhouse, Fenghui has the capacity to invest internationally when suitable opportunities arise.

Fenghui Capital does not publicly disclose its check sizes or total assets under management. Based on the early-stage and growth-stage companies in its portfolio, investments are estimated to range from several million to tens of millions of dollars per transaction, though this remains an Altss estimate given the firm's private nature.

Fenghui Capital does not appear to operate as a traditional fund open to third-party limited partners. The firm is believed to manage proprietary capital aligned with its founder, operating more like a private investment office than a conventional private equity fund.
