The firm invests from seed through growth stages, including corporate and university spin-offs. Its early-stage focus often involves first institutional checks for materials or hardware startups emerging from European research labs, while growth-stage capital supports companies scaling their first industrial production lines. Finindus does not publicly target late-stage or pre-IPO rounds.

Finindus concentrates on materials science, advanced manufacturing, and clean energy hardware. Portfolio examples include hydrogen electrolysers and fuel cells, metal 3D printing alloys and powders, autonomous rail systems, and AI for industrial machine health. The firm avoids software-only plays and consumer-facing technologies, remaining anchored to physical industrial processes.

Finindus structures investments as direct equity and co-investments, though it does not publicly name regular syndicate partners. Given its focus on hardware and deep tech, it likely co-invests alongside other European industrial-tech investors. Its portfolio companies typically have dedicated strategic investors or financial VCs with industrial domain expertise rather than generalist software funds.

OCAS is a metals R&D centre with advanced laboratories and prototyping capabilities. Finindus portfolio companies developing new alloys, coatings, or manufacturing processes can use OCAS for technical validation and process development, compressing the timeline from lab to pilot production. This technical due-diligence capability also strengthens Finindus’s underwriting of hard-science startups.
