Fondo Cometa

Fondo Cometa was founded in 1997 to serve employees across metalworking, engineering and plant installation. Its founding partners include Federmeccanica on the employer side and the unions Fim-Cisl, Fiom-Cgil and Uilm-Uil. The fund invests in public equities on Borsa Italiana, maintains a 2 percent allocation to gold and silver within its Reddito sub-fund, and participates in Progetto Economia Reale, a platform backed by CDP and Assofondipensione that channels capital into the Italian real economy. It also holds a limited-partner interest in Fondo Italiano d'Investimento SGR. Geographic focus remains Italy with supplementary exposure to global commodities. Assets total 16.4 billion USD. The fund belongs to Assofondipensione and works with custodians and managers including BNP Paribas, Allianz Global Investors, Amundi SGR, BlackRock, Eurizon Capital, Generali and AXA Investment Managers. Daniela Dario has served as President since 2024. Governance rests with a board drawn from the founding employer and union partners, creating a negotiated structure that separates benefit administration from investment execution.
