JPMorgan Partners functioned as J.P. Morgan's direct private equity investment arm, founded in 1984. It invested the bank's balance-sheet capital alongside outside institutional limited partners. The group operated with access to J.P. Morgan's advisory, lending and research infrastructure, giving it a sourcing advantage in buyout and growth equity transactions.
