Lantheus traces its roots to New England Nuclear, founded in 1956. After acquisitions by DuPont and Bristol-Myers Squibb, the business was sold to Avista Capital Partners in 2008 and renamed Lantheus Medical Imaging. Through acquisitions of Cerveau Technologies (2020), Meilleur Technologies (2021), Evergreen Theragnostics (2024), and Life Molecular Imaging (2024), the company has expanded into Alzheimer's diagnostics and radiotherapeutics. In 2024, it closed the acquisition of Life Molecular Imaging, which brought Neuraceq and a broader radiopharmaceutical pipeline (per the firm, 2024). Unlike a pure-play diagnostics company, Lantheus combines contrast-agent development, radiopharmaceutical manufacturing, and AI-driven quantification across multiple modalities.
