Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts was established in 1956 as the manager of a new cultural complex on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Mariko Silver serves as president and chief executive; Steven R. Swartz chairs the board. The entity functions as a nonprofit campus operator rather than a family office or conventional asset manager. LCPA holds direct ownership of the Lincoln Center Campus, Metropolitan Opera House, David Geffen Hall, David H. Koch Theater and Alice Tully Hall. It also maintains an art collection that includes works by Marc Chagall, Henry Moore and Alexander Calder. The organization reports an endowment of $272 million alongside additional real-estate assets valued at $1.2 billion. LCPA differs from typical endowments through 100 percent ownership of Lincoln Center Development Project, Inc., which executes real-estate and campus projects.
