Lorom Industrial Co. was founded in Taipei in 1988 by a small group of engineers focused on research and development. The founding group's engineering DNA remains central; the firm now employs over 500 engineers with an average of ten years of experience. The firm operates a fully vertically integrated model, controlling the entire supply chain from drawing individual wire conductors from copper rod and blending polymers for insulation, through final cable assembly, testing and packaging. Lorom designs and custom-builds its own key process manufacturing equipment to avoid being limited by commercially available processes. Over 50% of its business serves the automotive market, specializing in standard and bespoke wire harnesses. The firm also targets medical device manufacturing, with capabilities including master validation plans and design failure mode and effects analysis, and serves the professional audio, video and broadcast sector. Manufacturing and design operations span campuses in Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Tong Xiang and Chongqing in China, as well as Bhiwadi, India, and Fremont, California. The firm's workforce spans six regional design centers, with additional sales offices in Taipei, the United Kingdom, and North Carolina. All locations operate under a unified quality system certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485. Beyond cable assembly, Lorom has expanded into value-added electronics assembly, including printed circuit board assemblies, thermoplastic injection molding, and automatic screw machining. The firm also provides aftermarket services such as repair, refurbishment and supply chain management to sustain products throughout their lifecycle. Lorom's structural distinction lies in its extreme depth of vertical integration — a manufacturing philosophy where the firm designs and builds its own production machinery to achieve capabilities not available through standard commercial equipment.
