The firm targets an equal EU/US split. Sectors include technology, software, business services, energy and renewables, and healthcare, drawing on deep expertise from its investor network across these areas.

Founders Carl Grysolle and Paul Jr. Thiers lead the investment team alongside Jack Whatton, who heads the London office and previously led European venture fund investments at Legal & General. The broader investment team includes professionals with backgrounds at Lazard, Bencis Capital Partners, PMV, and Candriam.

Co-founder Paul Jr. Thiers shaped the private equity strategy of his family office Thinc.Capital before launching Maxus. Seeing untapped potential for family offices to access private equity beyond their core sectors and geographies led him to co-found Maxus as a distinct platform.

Maxus actively participates in direct co-investments with the GPs it backs. The firm positions itself as an active investor eager to double down on the most promising opportunities identified by fund managers it trusts.

Maxus is backed by a selective ecosystem of 35 investors, described as leading entrepreneurs and unicorn founders primarily from Belgium and the Netherlands. The firm does not publicly disclose total AUM or the individual wealth sources of its backers.
