Meyer Memorial Trust was established in 1982 from the estate of Fred G. Meyer, founder of the Fred Meyer retail chain. Toya Fick serves as current CEO while Alice Cuprill-Comas chairs the board. The foundation operates as one of Oregon's largest private grantmakers with a mandate centered on collective well-being of the state's lands and peoples. The trust allocates 31.92 percent of assets to private equity strategies. It maintains limited partnership interests in Elevate Capital, Voyager Capital, Women's VC Fund, Stripes, IVP, and Oaktree European Principal Fund V. Additional holdings include the Craft3 Community Impact Investment Note and Portland Affordable Housing Preservation Partnership. Geographic exposure centers on the United States with one European private equity commitment. The foundation also maintains public equity positions in names such as Travelers Companies and Exxon Mobil through climate-related proxy filings. The organization employs 50 professionals and occupies a LEED Platinum certified headquarters at 2045 N Vancouver Ave in Portland. Cambridge Associates has served as investment advisor since 2007. Toya Fick spoke at the Western Philanthropy Conference in May 2024 on philanthropy and equity.
