Mineria Activa is a strategic partnership between Activa Alternative Assets, the private capital division of Chilean financial group Larraín Vial, and an independent team of mining engineers and operators. Activa contributes institutional investment capabilities and capital access, while the mining partners source, develop, and operate the projects. The entity functions as a dedicated mining investment platform, not a separate fund vehicle within Activa.

Mineria Activa operates as a private equity-style asset manager focused exclusively on mining. It is not tied to any single family's wealth. The firm raises capital for project-specific investments rather than managing a permanent balance sheet, acting more like an independent sponsor or project-finance platform than a traditional closed-end fund.

The firm targets mid-tier mining projects in Chile and Latin America, working across the entire project lifecycle from early exploration through to production. Its portfolio spans copper, rare earth elements, and iron ore. The emphasis is on assets that can supply metals crucial to the energy transition, such as copper for electrification and rare earths for permanent magnets.

Mineria Activa's technical partners maintain an active prospecting effort, continuously evaluating mining properties from the unstudied claim stage up to producing assets. This origination model relies on the team's geological expertise and long-standing relationships in Chile's mining districts. The firm does not publicly cite participation in auction processes or intermediated deal flow.

Mineria Activa invests directly into mining projects and special-purpose vehicles that hold the underlying concessions and operating rights. It does not disclose making commitments to third-party mining funds or operating a fund-of-funds program. The investment model is project-level direct deployment.
